  • the cost of education is not nearly so shameful as the cost of health care. i would be much more angry about the cost to care for my ill child than to send another to college. there are many ways to approach a college education, but not nearly so many roads to care for someone who is ill.

  • credit card companies are already charging annual fees just for the privilege of using them. have been doing so for years and finding ones that do not charge the yearly fee is getting harder and harder.

  • i hope your tongue is planted firmly in your cheek. i have not used credit cards for years and i assure you that i am far from poor and do not skimp by with nothing, quite the opposite. i have a lovely home, i drive a new car every 2 - 3 years, travel extensively both here and in europe.

  • over the past year i have been cancelled by 3 credit card companies for non use of their plastic. years ago i used credit cards and like most everyone else, ran them into debt. the second time i paid them all off they went into our safe deposit box to be kept in case of some catestrophic event.

  • nobody is saying the guy cannot go hiking, but when you have the enourmous responsibilities of an entire state on your plate you make arrangements for your days off. this guy just vaniished into thin air with no regard for his family or the position the voters of his state bestowed on him.

  • i know south carolina is not much of a state but what in the world is this flake thinking of? is he that much of a narcissist or is he a diva? anybody remember mr eagleton from missouri? he had some mental problems, too, and it killed his political career.

  • what delightful memories of ed and johnnie spring to mind, cannot think of one without thinking of the other he was a wonderful sidekick and foil for some of the best entertainment ever presented. late night television died right after bette finished singing 'one for my baby.'
